Wild & Free : Elephant Fundraising
In the midst of throwing shit at the wall, I took on a new project that stuck...
An elephant drawing done in pencil, ink, and pencil crayon which will help me raise funds for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Why elephants? Well, I seem to have a soft spot for them and their continued struggle against poachers and the destruction of their environment. From an aesthetic point of view, I love all of their rounds edges and grace, despite their size.
To get the basic rounded shapes, I used the bottom of pots, cups, and plates, erasing edges I wasn't going to use. From there I expanded, using curled shapes to suggest movement and patterns to express texture and personality.
The WIPs and final drawing are below.
The final drawing was scanned and applied to different items in two of my shops; CafePress and Redbubble. $5 from each sale will go to the @DSWT.
